Gia Fu is a Hong Kong-born DJ, music producer, and cultural researcher, known for her deep-rooted work in Afro-Latin music, particularly Salsa and its associated rhythms.

Her artistic practice combines musical expertise with cultural research, reflecting how her Chinese heritage, Latin American - Caribbean influences inform and enrich one another. Passionate about challenging stereotypes and fostering inclusion, Gia builds bridges through sound and storytelling.

She leads Canton Mambo 曼波 (@cantonmambo), a multidisciplinary project connecting communities through music, dance, and cultural exchange. The initiative champions cultural dialogue and unity, with her single "Canton Mambo" blending salsa rhythms with the GuZheng, introducing a bold and evocative fusion sound.​

In 2021, Gia produced a big-band salsa album for Grammy-nominated artist Angel Meléndez, working with 30 musicians across generations in Puerto Rico. Since then, she has continued to leave her mark internationally, playing for Bulova at the Latin Grammys, Clockenflap Festival in Hong Kong, Bahidora & EDC Mexico, Love Supreme Jazz Festival & Glastonbury UK, Soulection & Soul In The Horn in New York (2025), the InterMiami Pre-Party for Lionel Messi and David Beckham, and curating music for Louis Vuitton Men’s Pre-Fall Show After Party, hosted by Pharrell Williams (2023). She also opened for Marc Anthony’s VIVIENDO Tour in Miami, and performed at Rauw Alejandro’s Cosa Nuestra album release events in Tokyo, London & Miami.

In addition to her club and festival appearances, Gia hosts community-based listening sessions and cultural events, including recent gatherings at Eaton Hotel Hong Kong, Montreal’s Chinatown, and most recently, Dante’s Hifi Miami. Through these sessions, she highlights the diasporic connections between East Asia and the Latin American–Caribbean world with records and conversation.
Her work has also been featured on larger stages, with a performance at the Lincoln Center Spring Gala: A Celebration of Asian American Art & Artists, as well as a curated evening at Hong Kong’s M+ Museum celebrating the city’s multifaceted culture and global influences through music and dance.

 

Since early 2024, Gia has been on a run of sold-out DJ and performance shows across the United States and Mexico as a headline artist, further cementing her reputation as a powerful cultural curator and rising global force in music.
